What is Tap?
Tap is a touchscreen intelligent lightswitch that replaces any traditional rocker or dimmer switch, up to 3 gangs. Tap also acts as an air quality and energy monitor, providing live notifications on the health of your home and suggesting more efficient ways to use energy.
Does it replace my existing light switch?
Tap is designed to replace existing rocker or dimmer light switches. All that is required is a screwdriver and basic DIY knowledge. You don’t even need a neutral wire if installing in a light circuit with compatible light bulbs (most dimmable LED and incandescent bulbs will work).
How easy is it to install?
Tap is designed to be as easy to install as a traditional light switch, and requires only a 2.5-3mm flat head screwdriver. Depending on the specific situation it can take between 2–10 minutes to install Tap. If you don't feel confident replacing a light switch yourself, please reach out to a professional — any electrician will be able to complete the installation in a few minutes.
Do I need a neutral wire?
Tap has been designed to work both with or without a neutral wire, the first touchscreen lightswitch to do so. When no neutral wire is available, L1 should be connected to a light circuit with compatible bulbs — typically four or more 4W dimmable LEDs, or one or more incandescent light bulbs. There are many different light bulbs on the market, all with slightly different characteristics, so it is impossible to give a definitive answer, but Tap will work with most dimmable LEDs. If a neutral wire is installed the number of light bulbs on L1 is not important (always keep total load per channel below 100W).
Do I need smart light bulbs?
No. Tewke Tap does not require smart light bulbs, and works with most standard LED or incandescent light bulbs that are already installed in your home. This means that you don't need to upgrade your existing infrastructure, replacing your current light switch with Tap is enough.
Do I need to have experience with smart home technology?
No, one of Tewke’s founding principles is to make technology that is as accessible as possible. Tewke Tap is designed to be intuitive and easy to use.
How much energy could it save me?
Your savings will depend on a variety of personal factors, such as home and family size, your energy provider, as well as infrastructure and technology currently installed in your home. To get a more detailed estimate, feel free to speak to us directly or take our energy saving quiz.
Will I get new features if I buy Tap now?
Yes, Tap uses Tewke OS, a custom operating system that can be updated over the air. This means you will recieve the latest software updates and new features regularly, as soon as they come out.

Tewke OS is our secure operating system that makes Tap possible. Whilst being beautiful and intuitive to use, Tewke OS is also built around the belief that users' privacy and security is paramount. Tap utilises industry leading cryptographic security, built into the hardware, to make your data as secure as possible.
